I stopped by El Rey de las Costillas after passing by this place a few times. Every time I drove by, it smelled increíble, so today I finally decided to stop and check it out. They do have a drive-thru, but I went inside since it was my first time.
As soon as I walked in, I wasn’t greeted. There was an older, chaparrita waitress who straight up gave me looks, like she was judging me up and down, wondering what I was doing there. I told her it was my first time and that I’d passed by before because it always smells so good. You could tell she was rushing me and basically wanted me in and out.
I ordered the parrillada #3 ribs, fajita, sausage, and chicken for about $50. I also got an agua fresca de sandía, and honestly it was really good, super refreshing.
Now let’s talk about the food.
The costillas were delicious, the meat literally fell off the bone and tasted like barbacoa. The fajitas were super soft and full of flavor, also barbacoa vibes. The chicken was okay, pero le falta algo.
Overall, the food is really good, especially the ribs. The service though, not so much. Honestly, it’s probably better to just go through the drive-thru and not dine in.

1st time here at I might say it was a lil sad. There was... what can I say foods I can make at home for a fraction of the price. I expected fajitas sausage... u know food that's shown on the front pic of the establishment. Waitresses come to and ask if u want the buffet, but u have to pay up front wit them. They didn't give me time to look around for it being my 1st time there. They're in a go go go. When I mentioned my 1st time give me time to look. I dont even know if I could order something different. If I could just offer a menu or something no rush me and say buffet, cuz I didn't c anything worth paying $15. The food was ok, but Im just saying.

I have just ordered to go for dinner and the chicken is great, I paid 41$ for two chickens. The order comes with rice, beans, salsa and tortillas. I’m glad the beans are not spicy like in other places because my daughter can eat beans as well.
I really like the special on Tuesday’s that you buy one chicken and they give you half a chicken for free. Highly recommend 😊
